About the Sales & Business Development Intern Role:

We are seeking a part-time sales & business development intern with a passion for technology, innovation and healthcare.  This person will be primarily responsible for generating new prospects, completing client meetings, and closing new business for our software-based technology.  



  • The sales & business development intern would be currently pursuing and undergraduate degree in business or marketing; minor or additional degree in communications or a scientific program a strong preference
  • Previous internship experience in a marketing or business development role, preferably in the area of healthcare
  • Ability to manage an enterprise sales cycle and understand complex medical technology
    • Experience with value-based selling
    • Comfortable with both generation of new sales leads and qualification of existing leads
  • Strong communicator that is comfortable interacting with prospects in person or via remote communication
  • Natural leader that is capable of working independently and also thrives in a team setting
  • Able to work in our downtown Chicago office
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office product suite


Key Responsibilities:

  • The sales & business development intern will prospect for new business with potential customers including but not limited to; surgeons, operating room managers, nurses, hospital executives, and medical device executives.
  • Outreach to prospects that includes communication over email, phone, webinar, and local in-person meetings
  • Management of inbound leads generated internally and from ExplORer marketing campaigns
  • Organization of prospects and customers in the ExplORer CRM system
  • Provide management with a weekly pipeline report that highlights sales activity and movement of prospects through the sales funnel
  • Convert prospects into new customers by shepherding them through the full sales process and closing their business
  • Oversee the implementation and onboarding process for new customers  
  • Exceed predetermined sales goals
